Church Under a Different Roof

I pulled up to the church, the large awnings where already scattered around the parking lot, tables and chairs resting beneath.

The worship team was practicing a song, the pastor was looking very relaxed.

Of course he would be. He wasn’t going to have to give a sermon today.

Within a half hour the tables were filled with people, and having said a communal prayer over the food, they were eating breakfast.

We started church breaking bread, or rather french toast, together.

During the month of August we are holding only one service (10:00 a.m.). And for the first of these, those of us who arrived an hour early had a breakfast together.

We worshipped, we shared, we had communion. The brilliant blue of a summer Oregonian sky was the canopy over our seats and we were family.

So... no sermon notes today. Just this oddly phrased post by Curious Servant, known to those at Canby Alliance Church as Will Greenleaf (and to a few as “the woolly one”) placed here as a note to those passing through that, yes, we had church. And though there wasn’t a message from our padre, our parson, our good Doc Barton, the Lord was there and He spoke eloquently to us all about love and community.
